Reusable Straws
It is time to eliminate all of the plastic straws! Every plastic straw that goes into our oceans has a chance of entering the stomach of marine animals or entangling sea plants. In America alone, we use over 500 million plastic straws per day! Plastic straws are often left on beaches or erode into the ocean after being left on the ground or after falling out of overflowing trashcans. When marine animals ingest plastic, there is a 50% mortality rate. Since plastic can not be digested, the straws and other plastic waste sits in the stomach of these innocent animals, convincing them that they are full. This causes starvation and eventually death. Just the simple act of using a reusable straw can eliminate mounds of plastic waste. They are available in many different stores and come with a cleaning brush!
